3/30- The Vanguards today received their third win in a row as they defeated former Del Val foe Harriton 12-6. The defense held Harriton's offense to 3 goals each half, led by senior captains Kyle Lord and Josh Lovelace, and junior Zach Hopkins (1g 1a), and goaltender Tyler Brun (10 saves). After a slow first quarter, the Vanguard offense iginited with 11 goals over 3 quarters, with 4 coming in the 4th to seal the win.

3/28- After falling 7-5 midway through the 4th quarter, the Vanguards rallied and scored 3 goals, including the game winner by senior defensemen Josh Lovelace with 1:59 remaining in regulation to capture there second win in 2 days defeating Archbishop Carroll 8-7 in non-league action. SV was paced by Donnie Krausse (3 goals,1 assist), Bobby Clemens (3 goals, 1 assist) and Frankie Jackson (1 goal). Goalie Tyler Brun made 9 saves. (phillylacrosse.com)

The Junior Varsity bounced back with a convincing victory over Carroll to improve their record to 2-1.

The Vanguards next opponent is former Del Val rival Harriton Rams. Both teams will meet Monday, 3/30 at Harriton HS at 3:45pm Varsity. SV enters the game 2-1 off back to back wins, with Harriton entering the contest 1-2 coming off a loss to Kennett.

bullet3/27- The Vanguards entered the win column today by defeating Chest-Mont rival Great Valley Patriots 13-8. The offense was paced by Bobby Clemens (3 goals 5 assists), Frankie Jackson (2 goals 1 assist), Matt Remner (3 goals), Donnie Krausse (3 goals), and Sam Maldou (2 goals 1 assist). Tyler Brun recorded 4 saves behind a hard-nosed performance from Kyle Lord (1 assist), Josh Lovelace and Zach Hopkins. The win puts the Vanguards at 1-1 overall and 1-1 in the Chest-Mont League. The Junior Varsity fell 7-5, behind a strong performance from attackman Kyle Gillam and Zac Gremminger, and goaltender Peyton Montgomery.

The next game will be Saturday, 3/28 against Archbishop Carroll at 1pm at Dr. Wally Field.

3/22- The 2009 season has officially begun with the Vanguards falling to Chest-Mont rival Downingtown East on Friday 14-7. The Vanguards received 7 team goals, all assisted, and the defense played a solid second half in the loss. Leading the way for the Vanguard offense was attackman Bobby Clemens (1 goal 2 assists), midfielder Nick Morrell (2 goals 1 assist), Donnie Krausse (2 goals), Erich Bigas (1 goal 1 assist) and Frankie Jackson (2 assists). The defense was anchored by senior captain Josh Lovelace's 6 ground balls. 1st team All-Del Val midfielder Sam Maldou recorded 11 ground balls, 1 assist and went 16-22 for 73% on faceoffs.

The JV team started there season off with a 3-2 victory. After a slow start in the first quarter, the Vanguards fell down by 2 goals. In the second the team got on track playing solid defense and scored 2 quick goals to open up the third quarter. Riding that momentum, the team then added the eventual game winner late in the third. The defense finished it out by shutting out the Cougars in the fourth. Congratulations to the JV team for their first ever Chest-Mont win!

The Vanguards next game will be Thursday night, 3/26 as they host Chest-Mont rival Great Valley. JV starts at 5:30pm, with Varsity following at 7pm.
