2009 ALL-CHESMONT TEAMS ANNOUNCED!
The 2009 All-Chesmont teams were announced this past weekend, with the Vanguards receiving 11 nominations!
Leading the way for the First Team, the Vanguards have 3 representatives;
#55 Josh Lovelace, Defensemen. Senior Captain Josh Lovelace came into this season as a 1st-Team All-Del Val from 2008, and 2nd-Team in 2007. Josh recorded 3 goals and 2 assists this season, and had 70 ground balls. Josh will continue his lacrosse career at Widener University.
#34 Donnie Krausse, Midfielder. Senior Captain Donnie Krausse lead all Vanguards this year with 56 goals and 6 assists, good enough to become the all-time leading goal scorer for midfielders in Vanguard history. He finished the season as the leading goalscorer in Delaware County as reported by the Daily Times. He recorded a career-best 5 goals against league rival Bishop Shanahan. Donnie will continue his lacrosse career at Elizabethtown College.
#2 Bobby Clemens, Attackman. One of five juniors to receive first team honors, Bobby entered 2009 as a 1st Team All-Del Val member from 2008. He broke a single-season assist record (9 assists) against West Chester Henderson, beating his previous record from 2008. Bobby recorded a career best 93 points (29g 64a) and has moved up to #3 all-time in total points on the Vanguards all-time list.
The Vanguards are well represented on the Second Team with the following players;
#14 Frankie Jackson, Attackman. Frankie came into 2009 as a 2 years returning starter. He recorded a career-best 25g and 20a. He also recorded a career-best 4g 3a against West Chester Henderson.
#25 Sam Maldou, Midfielder. Sam returned in 2009 as a 1st-Team All-Del Val midfielder. He recorded 13g and 12a, and won 61% of his faceoffs and scooped up 58GBs.
#20 Kyle Lord, Defensemen. Kyle returned as a 2nd-Team All-Del Val from 2008, and is highly reguarded as one of the best position-defensmen in the league. Kyle got 49GBs, and also recorded his first ever goal against West Chester Rustin.
#16 Zach Hopkins, Defensemen. Zach came into 2009 as a 2-year starter. He was tied for the team lead with 73GBs, and lead all defensemen with 3g 6a.
Rounding out the league honors, the Vanguards received 4 representatives to the Honorable Mention List;
#33 Matt Remner, Attackman. Senior Captain and a 3-year returning starter, Matt was moved to attack early in the season and recorded a career-best 34g 18a. Matt also recorded a career-best 5g 2a against West Chester Henderson, and also went 64% on faceoffs.
#24 Nick Morrell, Midfielder. The senior do-it-all midfielder returned as a 3-year starter. Nick recorded a career-best 9g 15a and was tied for the team lead with 73GBs. Nick will continue his career at the collegiate level at Susquehanna University.
#9 Erich Bigas, Midfielder. Erich came into 2009 as a 2-year starter and recorded 10g 6a for 16p, with 6g and 4a coming against league opponents. Erich also dominated on ground balls.
#8 Tyler Brun, Goaltender. Tyler came into 2009 as a first year starter. He recorded his first win of the season (and first Chesmont victory) against Great Valley. Tyler's best league win came against West Chester Rustin, where he stopped 16-22 for 73%.
